How We Work

We work, of course with heart, soul and commitment, but above all, we work to a process.

Experience (initially bitter, more recently sweet) has proven that the more work we do up front before the writing or the production begins the quicker and easier we get to the end and the more money everyone keeps in their pocket.

Because we work to a fixed price for every project, regardless of what happens along the way*, we need to be able define the project and your needs and expectations as early as we can.

Some people will tell you it’s their creative genius which gets the job done…

… but we contend that (competence and ability remaining equal) experience and insight backed by strong process is the only way to ensure the result matches the brief and that quality is measured and assured.

Obviously our process models vary depending upon the type of project we’re working on – a 400 word media release comes together in a different manner to a 400 page travel guide, but the common thread is that there is a distinct, documented process applied to each model. We prefer that you know about the process so that you know what to expect and when and how to expect it.

It’s also an opportunity for us to talk about whether our process appropriately interleaves with yours, and if not, we can agree on the modifications necessary to ensure everyone is comfortable and can work fluidly together.

The Hub of how it gets done

Because we’re a small team of specialists who manage both quite small and sometimes very large projects we need to have robust content processes and publications workflow procedures in place and to centralise the way we communicate.

Based in Melbourne, Australia we work with clients, writers, editors, designers, photographers and print-houses in lots of countries and lots of timezones and we do this effectively by managing all project communications, resources and collateral on a web-based project management hub, called, rather prosaically, The Hub. The Hub is open 24/7, is accessible from anywhere in the world and ensures that the words “I didn’t get that email” never enter a Recapture project discussion.
